The Total MMA Studios coaches staff is happy to report that our BTT Orange County team has grown significantly this past year! In sheer number size we have made great progress but where we have seen the most growth is in the knowledge retention of our members. Our purple and blue belts for example have not only shown improvement in their own games but take the time to work with our lower ranks so that as a team we become stronger.

The staff would like to thank all our members for their own part in our success and we look forward to helping you further in any way we can in your own jiu-jitsu journey.

UFC announced this Thurdsday (29) afternoon the bout between Milton Vieira and Felipe “Sertanejo” Alcantara at Engenhao, on event schedueld for June 23.

On an interview with TATAME, the Brazilian Top Team athlete seemed excited about the opportunity. “The phone started to ring and I was actually surprised… I’m thrilled”, says. “I’m touched. When I got the news I was so glad. I get excited just thinking about it”.

Milton explains he heard about it this Wednesday and hasn’t had time to study his opponent yet. “They told me yesterday, but I’m hoping for a good fight. It’s a super show, the biggest one ever, so I gotta behave like it”, guarantees. “I still don’t really know what to say about him, but I’ll get this job done and I’m going to put on a great show for people in Rio”.

About the Coach Rich Bordner:
Rich Bordner is the head coach of the Capo Valley High School Wrestling team. His previous coaching experience includes a two year stint as assistant coach at Dominguez High School in Compton, and one year as head freshman coach at Dublin Coffman high school in Columbus, Ohio. His competitive career spanned 15 years. After placing third in the state at Jefferson City High School in Jefferson City, Missouri, He wrestled for Ohio State for five years, lettering twice. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from OSU with degrees in English and Philosophy, he moved to Southern California in 2003 to pursue a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, which he hopes to complete soon. He lives in Laguna Niguel with his wife Ezichi, and their daughter, Amara, who was born June 2011.

Two former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champions — Murilo Bustamante and Dave Menne — collided last night (March 31, 2012) in the Amazon Forest Combat (AFC) 2 from the Amadeu Teixeira Gymnasium in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.

It was a rematch more than a decade in the making, with Bustamante stopping Menne in their first encounter at UFC 35: “Throwdown” in Jan. 2002 via technical knockout. History (kind of) repeated itself in their second tilt, with the Brazilian getting the victory again; however, needing the nod from the ringside judges to take home a unanimous decision.

Can The Sauna Help Me Loose Weight?

NO!!!

People have this idea that because they go in the sauna and they sweat tremendously they are loosing weight. This is completely not true. The scale weight per say will be less because you have water loss. However, it is not bodyfat itself that you loose. The moment you leave the sauna and go about your day you will regain back that water weight through food and liquids. Your body temperature can not rise high enough like it does during any cardiovascular or weight training.

I did an experiment on myself and wore my heart rate monitor in the sauna and it did not rise up at any level that cardio does for. When I perform weight training or cardio my heart rate is between 65-85% depending on what I am training. In the sauna my heart rate was up to a wimpy 45% and just for your information my resting heart rate is usually 35%.
