The founder and head-coach of the Brazilian Top Team, Mestre Murilo Bustamante, will return to the Octagon in Amazon Forest Combat 2, that will be held in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil on 31 March.
First Brazilian to earn a belt in the UFC, Murilo Bustamante will face, the american, Dave Menne (45-16-2) in a rematch of the fight in which Bustamente won the UFC’s belt.
Menne was the first heavyweight champion of the UFC middleweight in 2001 but lost the belt to the brazilian in the next fight at UFC 35, in January 2002, by TKO (Punches) at 40sec. of the second round.
Bustamante has not fought since July 2010 when he had to abandoned the match against Jesse Taylor at Impact FC 2 in the second round. While Menne has been more active and won his last fight over Eric Davila in November 2011 at UWF, by submission.
In the first edition of Amazon Forest Combat, about 12,000 people attended the Arena Amadeu Teixeira.
Master Bustamante has already started training with the entire BTT.
We will bring more news soon!
Next Thursday, February the 16th Total MMA Studios/BTT Orange County will be hosting a very special seminar! That evening Grand Master Francisco Mansur will be instructing on his methods and philosophies on the gentle art. A personal friend of our own Prof Juliano Prado Grand Master Francisco Mansur is the Founder and owner of “Academia Kioto De Jiu-jitsu”, one of the most traditional and successful Jiu-jitsu schools in Rio De Jeneiro, Brazil. One of only six men outside of the Gracie family to be granted a professor’s diploma by the late Grandmaster Helio Gracie, Grandmaster Mansur has dedicated over 50 years to the art and in that time has taught thousands on its beauty.
Grandmaster Francisco Mansur contributions to the sport have been immeasurable as his ideas have not only helped create our current belt ranking system but also aided in the creating of our current point system used in competitions. Wanting to help grow the art he founded both the Rio De Janeiro State Federation and the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Confederation. Presently he is still an active of the Rio De Janeiro State Jiu-jitsu Federation, serving as Vice President of its Technical Dept and also serves as President of the Masters’ Council Ethics Committee.
Currently the Grandmaster is the only 9th degree black belt in North America and when he is not teaching at his academy in Port Jefferson, New York he spends his time traveling throughout the US, Europe and Brazil conducting seminars and speeches on Jiu-jitsu, dieting and martial arts in general.
As you can see it will be quite an honor to be on the mat with Grandmaster Mansur that evening so make sure to see our front desk for more information and don’t miss your chance to train with one of the men that helped mold the art we all know and love!
