As we continue to grow as a gym the coaching staff is always looking for better ways to service our members. One way that has turned out to be very successful has been our women’s jiu-jitsu class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This class is instructed by both Prof Juliano and Adriano and is available to women of all ages and skill level.
The class covers all the basic principles of jiu-jitsu that any woman will need to compete or need in a self defense situation. We are very proud to offer this unique class to our members and look forward to watching it grow and grow over time. For more information on the class please see our front desk.
The staff at Total MMA Studios would like to congratulate those members who competed this weekend at the GrapplersX NoGi Tournament. The coaches were pleased as several of our members took home either gold or silver metals.

Read up on any MMA media site about Strikeforce’s Overeem vs. Verdum event and you will come to the conclusion that overall the event left a bad taste in the mouths of many MMA fans. With a lackluster main event and an as expected co-main event many felt the best fight was on the undercard and included our very own Magno Almeida! With a never say die approach Magno looked for submission after submission against his opponent Conor Huen in what was an action packed fight. To his credit Huen’s willingness to let his arm be dislocated rather then tap out shows how tough the 10th Planet trained fighter is but in many peoples eyes it was Magno who walked away with the victory that night.
Ben Fowlkes from MMAfighting.com said it best..
“You could make a compelling case that he deserved to win the decision over Connor Heun, but even in defeat he showed off a dangerous ground game that made the decision to take him down seem like a critical error in judgment. As soon as Almeida’s back touched the mat he had a submission attempt in the works. All Heun could do was hold on and try not to get his limbs snapped. Judging by the look of his elbow by the time he left the cage, he had mixed results in that department”

Either way you look at Magno walks away from this fight victorious as our jiu-jitsu coach left the cage with fans knowing what he brings to the cage! The team here at Total MMA Studios is proud of our jiu-jitsu coach and look forward to seeing him compete on future Strikeforce cards!
